Tips for Effective Blog Reading

Are your blog reading habits consuming too much of your time? Are you spending hours sorting through blogs and web sites for the latest and greatest?

Check out Nev n Dave’s Top Ten Tips for Effective Blog Reading, part 1 for good advice, like using blog readers and RSS aggregators to organize and provide summaries of collected postings. Recommendations include tips on rethinking how you categorize and manage your feeds. While you’re at it, read Steve Pavlina’s blog on evaluating the quality of feeds. A little prep work upfront will help you reclaim your R & D time.

    Good links, Lisa. Bloglines works very well for me in this regard. Of course, I think reading time is productive time, but that’s an English guy for you. :) I do think one crucial trick is to be able to speed read when appropriate, then read very slowly when you find a rich blog entry. I think Keith Robinson is right when he says that reading can be more productive than browsing. All depends on what you’re going for, or needing, on a particular day.

    Interesting that no one said anything about commenting. Material for another post?

    I’m also envious of your drop cap: nice touch!
